Proghorn Trespass Hunts

Location

Located in eastern Montana, hunting district 700-00 near Jordon, Montana.

Features

Do you want to hunt large working cattle and sheep ranches from 30,000 to 80,000 acres?  If you want to hunt speed goats on your own, be successful and create long lasting friendships with the ranch owners these hunts are for you.  These ranchers view one speed goat the same as the next speed goat with horns that average about 12" with 17" being the best to expect.  Generally you should plan 2 days of hunting to get a pronghorn buck.  If you are particular and want a trophy it may take 5 days of hunting.  You will see hundreds of pronghorn.  You may drive ATV's and pickups on the established 2 track trails to spot the herds of antelope.  You may not drive off the 2 track trails.  This is dry country that takes years to cover a set of pickup tracks up.  Most successful stalks require about a mile of walking.  A 40 power spotting scope is absolutely essential to spot the bucks you want to stalk.

Accommodations & Lodging

You can make your own self-contained camp at no additional charge on the ranch, roll out at the ranches bunkhouses for $100 a night, or drive 80 miles and lodge in Jordan or Miles City, MT motels with several months advanced reservations for about $75 per person/night.  Bring or buy your own drinking water! It take years to get use to drinking the spring water in this area. There is a reason the drinking water wells are called 2 step springs!
